I'm Lauren - a wife, a mother, and a wishful writer. Not because I wish to be a writer, but because I write my wishes. I'm on a journey to make my publishing dreams a reality. When I'm not writing, I'm either fulfilling my role as a theater mom or dance mom. Or cuddled on the couch with a book as a cat mom.
I am currently represented by literary agent, Brent Taylor, with TriadaUS. I am nearly finished with my next manuscript, a story about a girl hiding out on pirate ships disguised as a boy. Until one day, she's recognized for who she is and set on the path toward a destiny she's been trying to escape.
I read Stephanie's Once Upon A Broken Heart series before I read Caraval. Perhaps that is why I have a soft spot for a blonde love interest these days. Stephanie is such a decadent fantasy writer that my explanation of her worlds could never do them justice. It was because of OUABH that I was inspired to start writing again after nearly a decade.
As a child I was fascinated with ancient Egypt and all the old empires (thanks to National Geographic magazine subscriptions in the 90s). Isabel's books, What The River Knows and Where The Library Hides, transported me back to that childhood feeling of fascination and wonder, with that touch of magic I love so much.
If you want a cathartic read, Kristin Dwyer is your author. She's pulled me out of my dense fantasy reads and made me fall in love with contemporary fiction once again. Her stories bring ALL the real feels.
My favorite faerie writer! If you haven't met Cardan Greenbriar then you're missing out on what else a fae can be. When all of your faerie fantasies are powerful, perfect specimens, Cardan is so refreshingly imperfect and I love Holly for writing him like that.
As a girl who grew up watching James Bond movies and Mission Impossible (the original series) with her dad, Leigh Bardugo's Six of Crows brings back all the nostalgia of my heist-loving childhood. I wish I could be as heist-y as Leigh someday.
I absolutely adore the way Rebecca can write a dual POV. Her worlds are so lush and immersive that it's truly something to envy. Divine Rivals and Ruthless Vows was such a well-crafted world that I hated to leave it.
